The art of Cynthia Worthen Vascak is characterized by elegant simplicity and clarity of line and vision. Moving beyond her own fulfillment, Ms. Vascak's subject of constant fascination is the human figure, especially the female form as seen through a never-ending interplay of light, energy and movement

Ms. Vascak has studied Fine Arts at Boston University, the Museum School, Concordia University in Montreal, the University of Québec, and the Escuela Nationale de Belles Artes in San Miquel d'Allende,  Mexico and  earned her Ph.D. degree from the University of New Hampshire in Education: Curriculum and Instruction.

Currently, Ms. Vascak is head of the Art Department at Plymouth State College, in Plymouth, New Hampshire and is a member of the Cape Cod Printmakers and Monotype Guild of New England.

Ms. Vascak has received wide acclaim as a teacher, printmaker and draftswoman who particularly loves the art of drawing. She works in the printing processes of etching, lithography, drypoint, and monoprint and in the drawing media of charcoal, ink, pastel, and oil pastel. She is also a papermaker and uses paper pulp as fine art media.

After a nasty fall several years ago she had to recouping from a broken hip.  She took this time to started painting in egg tempera.  Becoming immersed in the medium she learned Russian and started studying with egg tempera Icon masters from Russia and Italy.  Currently she has developed a unique and contemporary interpretation of the Icon tradition.

Ms. Vascak’s paintings, whether a landscape, floral, or figurative works of art possess great luminosity and fluidity. Her nudes are created from the eyes of a woman, sensitive to the subtle nuances of sensuality and compassion. Noted for a style that reflects both great intellectual endeavor and artistic insight, Ms. Vascak has earned the respect of collectors and artists alike.
