DEBRA TEARE'S BIOGRAPHY

Debra Teare
Debra Teare

Debra Teare was raised in Cache Valley, Utah, an idyllic valley at the western edge of the Rocky Mountains. She studied illustration at Utah State University where she worked primarily in graphite and charcoal.

After fifteen years of working in black and white she deemed her apprenticeship in monochrome complete and began painting in color. She now paints trompe l’oeil oils, focusing on elements of nature that evoke a quiet contemplation.

Debra Teare is a charter member of The International Guild of Realism and a member of The Allied Artists of America.  She is currently one of eleven living masters of the art of Trompe L’Oeil whose work is in an ongoing traveling museum exhibition entitled “Trompe L’Oeil: The Art of Illusion.  She has been featured in a 2006 article in American Art Collector.  In November, 2007, American Artist magazine featured Ms. Teare by doing an article on her unique trompe l’oeil paintings.  Ms. Teare currently lives in Providence, Utah, with her husband and daughter.
