James Rodgers on location. |
Mr. Rodgers was born and grew up in what was then
rural northern New Jersey. His
childhood was spent exploring the haunts and hollows of his home state
where he developed an affinity for the rolling hills and grassy
meadowlands often seen bathed in the golden light of a summer sunset.
These early impressions continue to manifest themselves today in
Mr. Rodgers’ beautiful landscapes and still life paintings.
|
His initial artistic training took place at the renowned Art Student’s
League of New York City where he studied with the classical master Frank Mason as well as attending the classes of
noted painters Gregg Kreutz and Richard Pionk.
Mr. Rodgers is currently an active member of the Morris County
Art Association, Morristown, N.J., Duchess County Art Association,
Millbrook, N.Y., and Salmagundi Club, New York, N.Y.
Mr. Rodgers’ pursuit of the art of landscape
painting and portraiture continued with Art Maynard of the Ridgewood Art
Institute of New Jersey. Never
deviating from his original intention, he strives to apply his
traditional, classical concept to the contemporary world around him,
thus producing the synthesis he calls his own.
Over the years, James Rodgers has exhibited his
work in galleries from Virginia to California and Maine to Mississippi.
He has been the recipient of numerous prestigious awards and his
works can be found in corporate and private collections throughout the
United States, Canada, and Europe.
In the time-honored tradition of classical realism,
Mr. Rodgers creates luminous images of those ephemeral moments in time
of which he is a master observer. |
