From August 21, 2007 thru September 2, 2007

Still life painting was a genre that blossomed during the seventeenth century with the Dutch painters and is a tradition that continues today. A still life is a painting of inanimate objects; whether it is an ontjijt (breakfast piece) or a more formal classical still life. However, in the hands of a master, these everyday objects cease to be just inanimate objects and rise to become vanitas: a still life painting that evokes life’s fleeting qualities. Through artful compositions, expert use of color, light and texture they take on a personal meaning for the viewer and an inner life of their own.

On Saturday, August 25, 2007, from 5 to 8 PM, Winstanley-Roark Fine Arts will feature an exhibition entitled “Objets D’Art: The Art of the Modern-Day Still Life” featuring the works of renowned masters of the art of contemporary still life George Gonzalez, Judith Mroski-Gonzalez, B. Nicole Klassen, Ning Lee, Shawn Lütz, Jean O’Brien, Robert K. Roark, Scott Royston and Debra Teare.

These museum renowned artists continue the highest standards of the art of the still life and their modern-day masterpieces are creations of divine and true artistic harmony. Each of these accomplished artists has a unique approach to their subject matter, and though contemporary, each displays a respect for the classical still life paintings of the Old Masters.

Previews for all artists and inquires are welcomed.
