George Marks, Jr. is an impressionistic landscape painter who draws his inspiration from the timeless beauty of his native New England.

Born in Boston and educated at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, Mr. Marks, Jr. is largely a self-taught artist, pursuing his unique vision primarily in oils and acrylics.

As an avid outdoorsman and naturalist, Mr. Marks has developed a passion for the rivers and wetlands through out the Northeast region of the country.

With the use of fluid and expressive brushstrokes in a spontaneous, rhythmic application of color - sometimes bordering on the abstract - Mr. Marks constantly strives to capture the fleeting, elusive moods of the rural American landscape. Using deft brushstrokes to shape his paintings, Mr. Marks applies his colors in a celebratory manner. His paintings invite and intimate inquire into nature’s ability to stir feelings within us as we ponder these moving landscape portraits.

Possessed of great immediacy and force, Mr. Marks, Jr.'s paintings are included in many private and corporate collections in the United States and abroad. Mr. Marks is a member of the Copley Society.

Mr. Marks states “I find a special inspiration in the rivers and wetlands of the New England area from which I develop my artistic interpretation of nature.”
