The
nude, one of the most explored genres within the history of art, is a
subject matter that is both incredibly challenging and highly
problematic for the contemporary artist. The nude remains an important
subject in contemporary art and has become a vehicle for complex social,
societal and self-image issues. This exhibition will feature renowned
figurative artists Robert Birbeck, Larry Charles, B. Nicole Klassen,
Shawn Lütz, Michael Riddet, Robert K. Roark, Anita Winstanley Roark,
James Rodgers, Vincent Russo, Peter Stone and Cynthia Vascak. Through their fine art
paintings, sculpture, and photographs these eleven artists will invite the
viewer to discover how the beauty and form of the contemporary nude can
evoke riveting, powerful and thought-provoking images that add something
new and fresh to the history of this provocative subject.
