Pamela Carroll embraces the traditional
techniques of Classical Realism: attention to detail, careful composition,
and an ability to create illusion using paint and a brush. But Carroll’s
subject matter and spirit put her work firmly in the present. In her
words, “My paintings are images in time, part illusion, part reality. I
have attempted to capture forever a fleeting moment of history, a single
line in the book of time.”
Born and raised in California, Carroll is primarily a self-taught artist.
She has been employed as a tromp l’oeil artist, a graphic artist, and an
art project coordinator, but now devotes herself full-time to her own art.
She is the illustrator of a new book A is for America and is currently
working on the illustrations for two more books.
Carroll’s work has been exhibited in Santa Barbara in the Western US
Regional Small Image Show and at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art Rental
Gallery. She has also shown her work in Monterey Museum of Art’s La Mirada
Garden Show, and the Carmel Plein Air Festival. In 2000 she had a show at
the City of Monterey Alvarado Gallery and at the Carmel Art Association,
and she was a finalist in The Artist Magazine 2000 Annual Art Competion.
She is a member of the Monterey Peninsula Art Association and the Carmel
Art Association. In 2007 she was awarded the Best Still Life award at the
International Guild of Realism exhibition in Dennis, MA and Publisher's
Choice award at the SmallWorks NorthAmerica in Greenwich, CT.
Pam Carroll currently lives with her family in Carmel, California. |
